Adam Zimmer has Passed Away

Some very unfortunate news emerged this morning. Adam Zimmer – who used to be Minnesota’s defensive coordinator – has passed away.

Mike Zimmer was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2021. During that time, Zimmer’s son helped to coach the defense. Adam Zimmer did a great job of coaching the linebackers, allowing him to work up to being the co-defensive coordinator alongside Andre Patterson, the defensive line coach.

Several were quick to share kind words online. Field Yates of ESPN offers these thoughts:

Adam Zimmer was a good man who lived for his family, faith and football. He learned how to coach from his father and coached everyday to honor the legacy of his mother, who was lost way too soon. He was a proud son, brother and uncle.

Tom Pelissero:

Tragic news: Adam Zimmer, the former #Vikings co-defensive coordinator and son of Mike Zimmer, has passed away, his sister Corri announced. He was 38.

Kevin Seifert relayed the Bengals’ statement:
