The Vikings have climbed to an impressive 12-3 due to Kirk Cousins leading another game-winning drive and Greg Joseph nailing a 61-yard kick. Impressive stuff from the QB and K. The latest episode of Notes from the North – a humble Vikings podcast – takes on the recent triumph over the New York Giants on Christmas Eve.
Take a look at what Sam had to say about the episode: “On this weeks episode the guys talk about the win over the Giants, highlighting the duo threat of Jefferson and Hockenson, and the depth of the offensive weapons. They also talk about what to make of this defense at this point, and wrap up with some world juniors talk.”
Snagging the win over the Giants kept the Vikings firmly in the NFC’s #2 spot. That’s a significant detail; needing to head on the road in the playoffs isn’t ideal. Playing in front of the great fans at U.S. Bank Stadium, on the other hand, can make a noticeable difference for the purple and gold.
Defensively, it was a poor day for Ed Donatell’s group. I’ll merely point out that Danielle Hunter now leads Minnesota with 10.5 sacks; Za’Darius Smith is second with 10.
The hockey talk is back, largely due to the World Juniors. The one or two of you who are interested will be pleased to know that Sam offers a few brief words about the Minnesota Wild’s prospects in this tournament. We believe that the World Juniors are akin to basketball’s March Madness insofar as it’s often a remarkably exciting tournament featuring the game’s best young players.
